ABOUT KARPOV KINRADE
Karpov Kinrade is the pen name for the husband and wife entertainment duo Lux and Dmytry Karpov-Kinrade, aka The KK Duo.

Together, they write award-winning, internationally and USAT bestselling books, make music, create art, write screenplays and direct — all the things.

Look for more from Karpov Kinrade in the Vampire Girl series, The Nightfall Chronicles and The Forbidden Trilogy. If you’re looking for their suspense and romance titles, you’ll find those under Alex Lux.

Check out their music by clicking on the Music tab.

They live in wine country California with their three offspring who have crazy creative genius oozing out of them in the form of music, art, performance, and all the things, and too many cats who all think they rule the world (spoiler alert: they do).

We love hearing from fans, and we try to respond to all emails/messages/smoke signals/carrier pigeons, but there are a few things we get asked consistently and it’s easier for us to answer all those types of questions here. Feel free to contact us at Books@KarpovKinrade.com if your question is not addressed here.

Will there be more in the Vampire Girl series?

The series is complete with the eleven! books currently available. (Vampire Girl, Midnight Star, Silver Flame, Moonlight Prince, First Hunter, Unseen Lord, Fallen Star, Of Dreams and Dragons, Copper Snare, Crimson Cocktail, Christmas Cognac.) This includes the stories from several characters, a few different worlds and some novellas.

We are also working hard to pitch Vampire Girl as a television series, so stay tuned for more news on that. This is a time-consuming process, but we will announce when something solid develops from these efforts!

When is the next Nightfall book coming out and how long is the series going to be?

Court of Nightfall Cover Revised USACurrently there are three books and two novellas available in this series. Daughter of Strife is the next  full length book set to launch in this series, and it is from Scarlett’s POV. We don’t have a launch date for this, but will announce when we do.

Why can’t I find your books on Nook/iBooks/Kobo?

We are in the process of moving some series wide, to include Apple Books, Nook, Kobo, etc. Currently the Vampire Girl series is wide, and coming soon, The Nightfall Chronicles and Deadly Dreams Trilogy (Alex Lux) will be going wide. Any books that aren’t wide are currently  under an exclusive publishing contract with Amazon in order for them to be a part of Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited program.

For a kindle app, go here. Or search for “Kindle App” in the app section of your preferred device.

Why are some of your books short and some long?

We like variety and find that writing in different lengths allow us to play with different ways of telling stories. Each has merits and fun challenges that give us the opportunity to flex our creative writerly muscles. Plus, we’re blessed to have fans who also enjoy the variety.

Didn’t you used to have more books? Different books?

Yes, we did. We’ve relaunched some books under other pen names to keep genres and content separate for ease of reading. Our primary literary focus is Karpov Kinrade. You can read our other books under Alex Lux or Kimberly Kinrade.

I’d like to send you a letter/gift/books/chocolate. Where should I send it?

We love hearing from our fans, and we try to respond as we’re able, but it can often take us a long time as we are busy with three children and more ideas than we could write in ten lifetimes.

But you can send us mail here:

Will you come visit my school or book club?

We love to visit schools, libraries and book clubs and can often do so in person or via a live Skype call. For more about our programs and workshops, contact us at Books@KarpovKinrade.com

Will you sign my book?

We sometimes offer signed books for sale, and if there’s a particular book you want to buy directly from us signed, contact us at Books@KarpovKinrade.com.

This isn’t always possible, though, and does require trips to the post office, which take precious time from writing, so we’ve made bookpaltes that we’ll happily send you if you provide a self-addressed stamped envelope to:

Will you read my book, short story, book blurb and tell me what you think? Will you give feedback on my book cover?

Unfortunately, we can’t. For legal reasons and personal sanity and time constraints of writing massive amounts of books while also raising our own three lost kids (who aren’t actually lost at all except perhaps in their own imagination), and nurturing our epic romance. However, one of our fav authors, Maggie Stiefvater, has created an epic critique partner love connection here that you might find immensely valuable!

You can also find an ever expanding list of author resources under Resources for Authors.

What is your stance on fan fiction?

We’re honored when other writers deem our worlds/characters/universes interesting enough to write in themselves. So long as we’re acknowledged as the creators of the original characters/worlds/universes and no money is being made from it, then go forth and fanfic.

However, please do not plagiarize our work. (Taking the work of someone else and passing it off as one’s own.) That would be wrong. And sad for us.

How do I publish my own book/get published?

There are some fantabulous resources out there for budding authors. Google around until you find a great fit for you, just remember to read the small print and never sign a contract until you have a lawyer who specializes in entertainment/publishing has a gander at it.

We recommend David P. Vandagriff, aka The Passive Voice, for contract review.

Best advice we can give you is EDIT, EDIT, EDIT. Get professionals who KNOW what they’re doing in your corner if you go indie (editors, proofers, cover artists, formatters), and take it seriously.

I need a writing partner/writing group/critique partner. Where can I find one?

One of our fav authors, Maggie Stiefvater, has created an epic critique partner love connection here that you might find immensely valuable!

You can also find support from other authors in our Writers United Facebook group.

I’m an author. Would you blurb my book/review my book?

While we occasionally review books we’ve read for pleasure, we do not take book review requests, mostly because we just can’t predict our schedule to know if we’ll actually have time to finish it.

So, you’re two authors in one? And married? How does that work out?

Yes, Karpov Kinrade is actually the joining of Dmytry Karpov-Kinrade and Lux Karpov-Kinrade. We are happily married and full time co-authors with three children and many cats (and counting. The cats, not the kids.) And it works marvelously. We love being together, love working together and we work hard at making sure to listen, talk through things and respect each other in all areas of our marriage and business. We highly recommend this happily ever approach to love. It’s fun.

Are you really as in love as you seem online?

We’re probably MORE in love than we seem online. We hold back so as not to be too explicitly gushy and sigh-inducing to all who watch us. Romance novels, love songs and sappy poetry have nothing on us.

How do you come up with your ideas?

Magic, dreams, our kids random thoughts, sometimes by typos or misreading things. Mostly we listen and pay attention to the voices in our heads. They can be quite entertaining.

I read that you also do music and want to write and direct for movies/tv. How do you do it all? Will you keep writing books? I WANT MORE BOOKS.

I know most of you are only interested in our books, and probably don’t want to see us spread ourselves into other industries if it means slowing down on books. But the truth is, we’ve always wanted to do music and movies and tv. This is our dream. Our big dream. As big as writing books is. We were lucky to break into writing fist, for a variety of reasons, but we want it all. So yes, we are working hard to release more music. Dmytry composes, writes songs, and produces and Lux sings. And we are actively trying to pitch a Vampire Girl tv series where we would ideally be involved in the screenwriting and some directing. We have movie scripts we’re working on with the goal of directing some as well. It’s a big world and a big life and we have big dreams. We always have. But we love books and will likely never stop writing. DO ALL THE THINGS, that’s our motto. Why settle for less?
